Kindergarten Expectations
Our goal is for your child to have a smooth entrance into Kindergarten. The following activities are those for which we would like your child to be able to do independently at the beginning of the school year.

- Use words to communicate needs.
- Speak clearly so that an adult can understand him/her.
- Pay attention for short periods of time to adult-directed tasks.
- Play with other children.
- Follow simple directions.
- Button, snap and fasten own clothing and shoes.
- Use the bathroom independently.
- Separate from parents without being upset.
- Wait his/her turn and share.
- Talk in complete sentences of five to six words.
- Ask questions about things around him/her.
- Enjoy having books read to him/her.
- Tell a story about a past event.
- Look at pictures and then tell a story.
- Say "please" and "thank you".
- Follow simple rules.
- Recognize and print first name.
